If you are in the winter biome, consider crafting one of those, since it gives more cold protection than any other item out of cloth and it costs considerably less than them

Critical to use with wolf head, bucket helmet, or any other half piece of head gear for the +5% protection boost. You can buy the skin(s) on the steam store, usually relatively for cheap. For only costing 5 cloth, it's critical to have to prevent damage or headshots.

probably one of the best blueprint to buy from steam ,it can be used pretty much all game, decent protection and can be used in combination with a lot of other helmets. (not to mention how cheap it is(in game and steam item cost))
can be used all throughout the wipe good rad protection superb cold protection good for camo (provided you own the camouflaged skins)
