Heavy Scientist

Well protected and heavily armed. When the locked crate on an oil rig is being hacked, 6 or 11 of them (depending on the oil rig size) arrive by the Chinook 47 helicopter. Using SPAS-12 shotguns and M249 machine guns, they represent a serious threat.

I would use a Spas-12 Shotgun to do mass damage when taking down the Heavy Scientist. I'd highly suggest taking oil rig in a group as it's very dangerous, high risk, high reward.

Use the rooms to take cover and take down the scientists one by one. Alternatively find a choke point like the stairs to the helipad and let them enter single file and take them one by one. The benefit of this method is that it doesn't require any key-cards, while using a room is safer but requires more preparation.

Whenever it comes to fighting these bad boys, you will be facing a challenge, especially as a solo. Once you have activated the crate, a chinook will appear and slowly land to the oil rig. If you look at the chinook, you can see some heavy scientists aboard, take advantage of that and shoot them in the air as the shotgunners can't really do that much damage to you. Once they landed, get ready to have some fun because they are going to charge at you. Fighting these guys are tough. What's not tough is that their are ways of winning against these 5 bastards. Distance is key. There is at least 1-2 heavy scientists with M249 so you MUST take your distance, as well as the rest with the spas-12s.
What is it to go against these guys?
  • Lots of meds (Medical Syringe Bandage etc)
  • Reserve gun
  • Lots of ammo

These boys give great rewards once you kill them, however it is not too easy to kill a whole bunch of them. Before you activate the chinook event make sure you have: 1. A full auto weapon, or a shotgun. It is best to kill the heavy scientists as fast as possible when going to kill them. 2. Enough meds. If you are hit a few times you should restore yourself to 100 health. All health matters. 3. Find a spot to get cover. A scientist with the M249 can do large amounts of damages very quickly.
There are two locations I normally take the scientists from. There is a room next to the keycard room with a button. Sometimes this room glitches and you can open the door freely without using the button or the electric fuse. Another location I take the scientists from is from the L3 staircases. There is plenty of cover, and only two ways the scientists can come from.

In fact, as long as they are not surrounded, they are easily killed. Like Most of Scientists' AI,they won't suppressing fire,Keep your distance from heavy.

Using a bolt action rifle with an 8x scope and laser sight will allow you to sit in the room on the top level, and quickly open the door while aiming at a scientist, fire, and rapidly close the door while taking minimal if any damage. Using this technique you can kill the heavies with very little ammo used ~20-40 rounds based on accuracy and headshots. So if you are farming rig for ammo, this is the way to go.

Do NOT hide in the room with the locked crate, they will charge you and destroy you, you will also not be able to get your loot back if you dont have a keycard and fuse(s)

a they are just "stupid ai" they are often underestimated by new players.
Heavy scientists pose a REAL threat to all sorts of players.
While it may seem like a great idea DON'T go in the open with heavy armor they are going to melt you. Take your time get them from the stairs going down, where they can't shoot you. The best set up for this is someone with an smg/shotgun behind the ladder and someone with a rifle in front. The smg player draws aggro and damages them while the rifle player properly lines up headshots. These scientists require 5 headshots to kill so an automatic is suggested

Unless you're with your 100 man zerg, however many Medical Syringe think you need. bring 5 stacks more per person.
