Oil Rig Scientist

These scientists spawn on the oil rig. They carry much better loot than your normal scientist. They carry attachments on their weapons like laser sights. They are part of a new set of AI which should have them act more human and make them harder to kill.

If you are taking oilrig with compound bow, you should try to take out as many as possible from your boat. And when you are on it you should go up the stairs and let one to shoot you and you push back he will follow, and when you hit him he will run back and you have time to recharge the compound-bow.

The compound bow and double barrel shotgun are excellent for eradicating the scientists, this includes heavy too, they tend to fire in bursts, so an effective tactic is to bait them, then hide behind a box and peak to bait a shot and shoot them while they're in-between shooting, or simply peak and shoot so quick they can't shoot you, you should charge your bow during this to maximize damage. Two double barrel blasts seems to be sufficient in most instances, or as a finisher as they love to either camp and hide, or rush you at the most inconvenient of times; don't forget to harvest the scientists too, they drop loot similar to harvesting from animals, be it bullets and ammo, in addition to the regular looting of their bodies.

You can bait these scientist's down stairs, because they sometimes move slower, and don't attack, once they bunch up, you can shoot and kill them easily without them taking cover.

!!!!CRAZY IMPORTANT INFORMATION!!!! Scientists deal BITE/WILD damage, like animals because the code used is similar to that of the animal AI, to reduce the load on the server and not have to calculate where the bullet hit. (Projectile protection is different for different sections)
ie.: ChestPlate doesn't protect your head from projectiles, but hide boots protects your whole body(3%) from AI/Wild/Bite damage.
A set of primitive clothings with high bite damage reduction is WAY better than a radsuit.
Cheapest/Most efficient Oil rig protection kit to date:
  • Riot Helmet with Bandana (16)
  • Easy replacement is Bone helmet (13)**
  • Roadsign Jacket with Hide vest or Shirt (18)
  • Easy replacement is jacket(15) Hide poncho or wood armor (13)
  • Roadsign gloves (10!)
  • all other gloves only provide (2)
  • Roadsign Kilt and Hide pants (18)
  • Easy replacement is wooden armor pants and Hide pants (13)
  • **IF YOU USED BONE HELMET YOU'LL HAVE SPACE FOR HIDE BOOTS(3)

That gives you up to 62 %REDUCED DAMAGE against scientist damage (early game assuming no BPs would be 44) I did not try and optimize projectile along with it, that's basicaly best PvE kit.

Full lategame "PvP" kit gives 35% Wild (non-regional) and (50_50_45)%Projectile (head_chest_legs)
