Nearly all old tips are outdated. Now Rust+ shows items from a paired Tool Cupboard (a Tool Cupboard or a Large Storage Box). It looks like the interface from the game. Basically one can track the content of storage boxes and tool cupboards while being offline or online.

For those who can't see this device in Rust+ app: Go to app settings and press "Check for updates" button, and update app after. Then either pair it again, or it will be already presented in app's device list.

Dont forget, this device need 1 power to be active. Also needs the Wire Tool to setup with Rust+. Attaching to your TC and when connected to Rust+ shows in the app how long your base will be protected for before decaying. Attaching to a Storage Box gives information of how many slots are occupied (XX/XX SLOTS) It does not send push notifications, just updates its own status, so if someone is mixing and moving stuff around, you're not going to get 100 notifications!

From my testing, it looks like an event is triggered when a cell in the Tool Cupboard or large box either becomes empty, or non-empty. Changing the number of items in a cell doesn't trigger an event. In the case of a Tool Cupboard, I think this would trigger an event as items are used for upkeep and cells become empty. It will also trigger an event of course if someone purloins items from a large box or TC. It doesn't discriminate between who makes the changes. The uses I see for this are...
1. Monitor use of materials in the TC. Although, I think this will be inexact and annoying. 2. Determine if someone has gotten into your base and starting to abscond with your goodies. 3. Trap base as a trigger to close doors, pour holy hellfire on your victims or whatever.

Requires power in order to send storage info to Rust+.

So from my testing it only works by sending a pulse if something in the tc changes. Therefor if you set the output to a smart alarm you get a notification. I just don't see the additional value in that. Pairing the smart alarm itself gives me a campfire symbol on my phone. Once paired on my phone it doesn't show anything.
